DC man arrested for robbing victim in wheelchair

WASHINGTON - Police have arrested a Southeast D.C. man for the robbery of a man in a wheelchair.

Earl Leroy Matthews, 47, has been charged with robbery force and violence for an incident that occurred Wednesday morning in the 4100 block of Wheeler Road in Southeast.

Video released by police last week showed the suspect appearing to assist the victim inside a store and then pushing him out of the store.

Once outside, the suspect is seen having a physical struggle with the man in the wheelchair and forcibly taking something away from the victim before walking away from the area.
