Breathalyzer machines installed at Delaware bars

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. -- Breathalyzers in bars are helping to prevent drunk driving in New Castle County in Delaware.

The Boozelator 5000 breathalyzer vending machine has been installed in two bars there.

It costs a dollar and dispenses a straw to customers to use to blow into the machine, which shows their blood alcohol level.

"Any tool to help customers realize that if they have had too much to drink is helpful," said one server. "It helps when people are asking for more drinks than we think they should have. We can say to them, ‘Why don't you check out the breathalyzer?'"

About a hundred people have tried it out helping them make a better decision on whether to get behind the wheel.
