WASHINGTON - It was viral post that was shared by more than 570,000 people on Facebook and retweeted over 81,000 times -- Donald Trump posting a picture of himself eating a taco bowl on his social media account celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
The caption for the picture said: "Happy Cinco de Mayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!"
The photo comes during a time when Trump has alienated the Hispanic community during his presidential campaign, which includes a speech where he labeled some Mexicans as criminals and rapists. He has also called for a wall to be built at the border between the United States and Mexico.
FOX 5 spoke with Vice President Joe Biden on Friday and asked him what he thought about Trump's taco bowl tweet.
"He's a smarter guy than this," Biden said. "I hope he reaches the point where he figures out that it's not a game show and he talk in earnest about where he would take the country. Because that is the kind of debate the public deserves.
"I know Hillary [Clinton] or Bernie [Sanders], if he is the nominee, will do that. But the American public deserves genuine debate at this moment in our history on the direction of the country -- whether we continue the direction we are on and moving forward or are we making a significant change. I'm not sure he knows."
