All-clear given after report of armed suspect off-campus near University of Maryland

The University of Maryland Police Department has given the all-clear after officials reported an armed man off-campus.

On Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m., university police sent an alert out for an armed suspect off-campus near Lakeland Road and Baltimore Avenue (Route 1). Police believe the man is a suspect who robbed a victim at gunpoint in the parking lot of a McDonald's on Route 1 just before 3 p.m.

A full search with a K-9 unit was launched by both university police and Prince George's County police. But just after 4 p.m., officials gave the "all-clear" saying the suspect had left the area.

Police believe the suspect was wearing a light grey hoodie, orange short and black and grey shoes.

Prince George's County police are continuing the investigation.
