2 separate DC stabbing incidents involve sons killing fathers

WASHINGTON - D.C. police are investigating two separate fatal stabbings in which a son killed his father.

The most recent incident happened at around 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of 33rd Street in Georgetown.

According to sources, a 33-year-old man off of his medication and "hearing voices" stabbed his father inside their Georgetown home. The suspect was taken into custody by police at the scene.

Across town outside of Children's National Medical Center on Michigan Avenue at around 3:10 p.m., sources said a hospital shuttle driver and his adult son had an altercation and the son killed his father on the walkway for the shuttle entrance to the hospital. The son in this incident was believed to be off his medication as well.

Police are searching for the victim's son in this stabbing as he fled the area afterwards. He is described as a black male who was wearing a white shirt, black pants and was also carrying a green shirt.

With these fatal stabbings, there have been 82 homicides in the District this year, which are eight fewer than at the same time last year.
