When does food go bad during a power outage? It can be a difficult answer to know. Thankfully there's a life hack for that.
All of the items you will need, you probably already have at home:
If you know you know you could lose power, fill the clear glass with water. Then place it in the freezer. Once the water is frozen, drop the quarter on top and place the glass back in the freezer.
When you regain power, everything in your freezer will refreeze. If the quarter is at the bottom of your glass, you'll need to throw out your food.
If the quarter is still on top of the ice, that means your food never thawed and it is safe to eat.
