Cleveland Park Metro Station back open after flash flooding forced it to close

On Tuesday, Cleveland Park Metro riders were in ankle deep water as they were trying to leave the station during rush hour.

Storms dumped inches of rain, causing flooding and forcing the station to close for a brief period of time on Tuesday evening.

The station closed about 6:40 p.m. and reopened nearly two hours later, after drains were cleared and the rainwater had dissipated. Metro said shuttle buses were available during the closure.

Metro passengers tweeted images, video of water falling down the station's steps and flooding part of its upper platform.

Metro tells FOX 5 DC that they do not foresee any impact to the Wednesday morning commute.
