University of Maryland football player hospitalized overnight as a precaution; released
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - A University of Maryland football player was taken to a local hospital for precautionary measures after he became ill during a Tuesday workout.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Raymond Boone was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
Boone - a redshirt freshman defensive back from Greenbelt - was released the following day, according to the school.
He tweeted on Wednesday, "I get to go home today."
Boone told the school he is "doing fine."
"My blood sugar was low and I went to the hospital just to be cautious. I appreciate all of the support that I've received," he said.
A source told the Baltimore Sun that the illness was not heat related.
