Newlywed Capitals fans turn wedding into victory party for Stanley Cup champs
WASHINGTON - What do you do when you're a Washington Capitals fan and your wedding falls during the same week your team wins the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history? Turn your big day into a Caps celebration - of course!
Newlyweds Kurt and Samantha Schray did just that! The couple from Northern Virginia married over the weekend after the Capitals beat the Las Vegas Knights in the finals. The couple decided to turn their big day into a victory celebration for their team.
The entire wedding party wore Capitals jerseys during the ceremony. They also made a special toast to the Capitals winning the cup during their reception.
"It kind of felt like I was celebrating right along with the Caps from Thursday night to Saturday night," Samantha told FOX 5. "The moment I remember from the toast was my dad grabbing the mic from my DJ and doing a "Let's Go Caps" chant over and over with everyone at the wedding."
