Name of Kevin Durant's new Nike shoe may upset some Prince George's County residents

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant is paying homage to the Maryland County he grew up in with a new sneaker.

The new Nike shoe is called KD8 'P.G. COUNTY' and is on sale now for $180.

Some fans, however, may be upset with the abbreviation of Prince George's County. For years, using 'P.G.' has been considered a negative term. Local officials have even reached out to Nike to explain their take on the name but so far nothing has changed.

Nike describes the new footwear on their website:

Kevin Durant's incredible journey to All-Star and MVP status began in Prince George's County, Maryland. In this collection, a colorful crest and bright crimson fade honor his Seat Pleasant roots and rise to superstardom.
