Local soccer players talk about their love of the game with Joanna Lohman

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) -- The excitement continues to build around the Women's World Cup. The U.S. Women's soccer team has been bringing their A-game with victories over China and Sweden since the start of the games on July 7.

Joanna Lohman played midfielder and defender for the Washington Spirit for nearly five years, retiring officially in April of this year. She knows first hand about playing competitively and what the game of soccer can do to build confidence in young girls.

Lohman had a chance to sit down with players from DC Stoddert Soccer League. Grace, Ruby, and Eleanor had a chance to talk about stereotypes, experiences, and their love of the game while they were "Kickin it with Joanna Lohman" in the video player above.
