Leesburg temporarily changes name to 'Natsburg' to celebrate World Series champion Nationals

The town of Leesburg in Loudoun County officially changed its name to celebrate the World Series championship won by the Washington Nationals this week!

From now until Sunday, the Leesburg will be "Natsburg" following a council vote and proclamation Friday, according to the town's Facebook page.

"NOW THEREFORE LET IT RESOLVED, that the Town of Leesburg congratulates the Washington Nationals baseball team on its performance at the 2019 World Series and in recognition of its positive impact to our area hereby proclaim the Town of Leesburg will be renamed “Natsburg” beginning Friday, November 1, 2019 through Sunday, November 3, 2019."

In 2018, the town of Lovettsville in Loudoun County renamed themselves Capitalsville in celebration of the Washington Capitals Stanley Cup victory, according to LoudounTimes.com.

The Washington Nationals won the 2019 World Series championship in Game 7 against the Houston Astros. The team will celebrate this weekend with a championship parade in D.C.
