12-year-old boy visiting all 30 MLB ballparks to help raise money for charity
WASHINGTON - A 12-year-old boy is spending his summer break with the boys of summer all across the country.
Adam Koss is a huge baseball fan and is trying to fulfill a dream by watching a game at all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums in the next two months.
But it's not all fun and games for this youngster.
"This upcoming fall, I'm actually having my bar mitzvah and it's a tradition to give back to the community as part of your bar mitzvah, and I want to combine one of my dreams, which was to go to all 30 MLB stadiums, and also raise money for charity along the way," Koss said.
When he brought up the idea to his parents, Koss said they were very supportive in helping him make it all possible.
His MLB journey began Thursday in Baltimore as he visited Oriole Park at Camden Yards to watch the Orioles. On Friday, he stopped by Nationals Park in the nation's capital to see the Washington Nationals in action.
What has the 12-year-old learned during his trip so far?
"We have learned along the way how generous people are and how willing they are to help for something that is trying to raise money," he said. "It's been really great."
Koss is raising funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the St. Baldrick's Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Koss is asking people to donate to his Home Run Club, where people can pledge $1 or more for every home run he witnesses during his ballpark tour. People can also donate on his fundraising page.
