Syeda Abbas

Syeda Abbas is a reporter and streaming host for FOX 5 DC, where she helps lead the launch of the station’s innovative weekend streaming news show — one of the first of its kind at the station. She brings viewers breaking headlines, trending stories, and thoughtful conversations across digital and broadcast platforms, connecting with audiences through authenticity and depth.

Before joining FOX 5 DC, Syeda was a weekday morning anchor & reporter in New York City.

She has also anchored and reported in, Cleveland, OH, Connecticut, and Arizona, covering everything from politics and public policy to lifestyle and culture.

Her on-air journey began nationally with QVC, modeling for beauty brands Josie Maran, Becca Cosmetics, and Color Wow Hair.  She later expanded into entertainment hosting as an Amazon Prime national red carpet host for Asian Variety Show (AVS) — interviewing celebrities and industry leaders for a program broadcast nationwide.

Blending her newsroom experience with her creative storytelling background, Syeda brings a fresh, multidimensional voice to FOX 5 DC — spotlighting a variety of perspectives and stories that inspire connection.

Outside the newsroom, she enjoys exploring D.C.’s vibrant food and arts scene and creating digital content that captures everyday life in the DMV.
