WASHINGTON - A woman is recovering at a D.C. hospital after delivering her own baby girl in traffic on Thursday evening.
The woman - who has not been identified - was on her way to the hospital when she went into labor.
The baby was delivered in her car outside of DAR Constitution Hall in the area of 17th Street and C Street in Northwest D.C., according to D.C. Fire and EMS.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at around 6:42 p.m. The mother and newborn were transported to the hospital in good condition.
"To me, the mom was pretty calm," said D.C Fire and EMS Sgt. Wesley Young. "The baby was just laying there. She seemed like she just knew what she was doing. She was able to give us information that we needed to help us out."
