Virginia police officer struck by car, driver charged with DUI

A Virginia police officer is recovering from injuries he sustained after being struck by a vehicle on Route 50.

The officer was directing traffic shortly before 6 p.m. on December 5 at the intersection of Route 50 and Winery Lane when he was struck by a 2013 BMW.

He was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was treated and later released.

The driver of the vehicle, Sara A. Marsh, 53, of Middleburg, was charged with DUI and taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where she was later released.
