Virginia, Maryland cities ranked top 20 among nation's 'Healthiest Communities' by US News

Virginia and Maryland are among 2019's top 20 healthiest communities in the nation, according to a new report.

In collaboration with the Aetna Foundation, U.S. News released the 2019 healthiest communities rankings, among the 3,000 cities analyzed in the report, Maryland and various Virginia communities placed top 20.

These are the top 20 healthiest communites:

1. Douglas County, Colorado
2. Los Alamos County, New Mexico
3. Falls Church City, Virginia
4. Loudoun County, Virginia
5. Broomfield County, Colorado
6. Teton County, Wyoming
7. Hamilton County, Indiana
8. Carver County, Minnesota
9. Delaware County, Ohio
10. Howard County, Maryland
11. Chaffee County, Colorado
12. Morgan County, Utah
13. Fairfax County, Virginia
14. Routt County, Colorado
15. Jefferson County, Montana
16. Ozaukee County, Wisconsin
17. San Miguel County, Colorado
18. Fairfax City, Virginia
19. Pitkin County, Colorado
20. Boulder County, Colorado

Because a lot goes into the overall health of an entire community, many aspects had to be examined such as education, housing, food and nutrition, and liveliness.

An honorable mention goes to the state of Hawaii, reporting the nation's longest life expectancy with average just over 81 years old.
