Virginia man wins $10 million Virginia Lottery scratch-off prize

George Coffroad is $10 million richer after winning the largest prize ever awarded for a Virginia Lottery scratch-off ticket.

The Alexandria man is in the construction business and bought several '100xTheMoney' tickets at the Landmark Towers Sunoco gas station on Monday. Coffroad tossed the tickets onto the floor of his car on the drive home only to later learn that one of them was the grand prize winner.

Kent Taylor, who owns the gas station, calls Coffroad a loyal customer and says he has even done work for him in the past. He said the Virginia Lottery will award him $50,000 for selling the lucky ticket.

Coffroad will take the lump sum of $5.6 million rather than the $10 million 30-year annuity prize.

Lottery officials say two more grand prizes have yet to be discovered.
