Virginia House passes bill raising minimum tobacco, vaping age to 21

The Virginia House of Delegates passed a bill that would raise the minimum age to buy, sell or possess tobacco and nicotine vaping products from 18 to 21 on Tuesday.

With a 67 to 31 vote and one abstention, HB 2748 amends the smoking age requirements mentioned in the Code of Virginia from "18 years of age" to "21 years of age."

On January 29, the bill was passed by the Virginia Senate with a vote of 32-8.

It will now head to Governor Ralph Northam's desk for review before being signed into law.
