VIDEO: Police looking for female armed-robbery suspect in Kensington 7-Eleven, taxi robberies

Montgomery County police are asking for the public's help as they look for a woman suspected of trying to rob a 7-Eleven store in Kensington on Tuesday and a taxi cab on Monday.

On Thursday, police released video of the incident.

Detectives say the suspect - who they believe is a Hispanic female - entered the store at 3507 University Boulevard West with what appeared to be a gun in a plastic bag. They say she told the clerk behind the counter that she was robbing the store, but another employee approached her from behind and seized her weapon.

According to police, the employee and the would-be employee struggled for control of the weapon, while the clerk behind the counter called 911. When police arrived, they recovered the weapon and determined that it was a replica handgun.

Based on the description, police believe the suspect also tried to rob a taxi driver in the 4000 block of Sampson Road in the Veirs Mill Village area.

They say tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward. If you have any information that may help investigators, call 1-866-411-TIPS.
