VIDEO: Mice climb in window of DC Thai restaurant

A Thai restaurant in the District has been shut down after mice were caught on camera climbing on the curtains.

Melinda Burton, a passerby, captured the video at Thai X-ing on 9th Street, NW on May 29.

In the video, multiple rodents were spotted climbing on gold-colored curtains as onlookers cringed and commented in disgust.

D.C.'s Department of Health told FOX 5 that the restaurant has been closed as it investigates.

The owner of the restaurant said he is equally upset about this. Taw Vigsittaboot asked FOX 5 to bring our camera inside his business to show that he and his staff are keeping the place clean.

Vigsittaboot said he welcomes the inspectors because he does not want his customers to have anything less than ideal.

While we were inside, we did spot a mouse on one of the numerous traps that have been laid out.

There is construction going on in the unit next door of the restaurant and a commercial kitchen on the other side. Some patrons said they think he is a victim of a rodent problem in the city.

Vigsittaboot said the restaurant has been open at this location for three years and has never been shut down before.
