VIDEO: Man in wheelchair rescued from Metro tracks

A man in a motorized wheelchair was rescued by a few Good Samaritans Tuesday afternoon after ending up on the tracks at a Metro station in Northwest D.C.

Metro released video of the incident at the U Street/African-Amer Civil War Memorial/Cardozo station.

After the man fell onto the tracks, nearly everyone on the platform moves to look down onto the track bed. One man went down below trying to lift the fallen man, but he was unable to get him up by himself. Then a second man comes to help and both of them lift the victim to safety.

They then hoist the wheelchair onto the platform and get out themselves before the station manager checks out the scene and calls for help.

The man in the wheelchair suffered a bloody mouth and was taken to the hospital, but he is expected to be okay.

It is unknown at this time what caused the man to go over the edge of the platform.
