Vehicle crashes in Southeast DC after shots fired from inside, police say

Police say a vehicle has crashed after the occupants fired shots at another car early Tuesday morning in Southeast, D.C.

Officers say the incident was reported around 5 a.m. along Branch Avenue.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle drove off after they were spotted by police. The vehicle's driver crashed near the intersection of Branch Avenue and W Street and the occupants fled the scene, police report.

Officials say one person is being questioned at this time but it is not clear if that person was inside of the vehicle. FOX 5's Anne Cutler reports that officers say a weapon was recovered inside the vehicle that crashed.

No one was struck by the shots fired from the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
