Tucker Barnes takes a Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics DC

FOX 5's Tucker Barnes cooled off this Friday with a plunge into icy waters at Mount Vernon Square.

The reason? Raising money, and bringing awareness to, Special Olympics DC.

Barnes was part of a select group of 375 people who had the opportunity to take the Plunge in the heart of the District on the lawn of the historic Carnegie Library.

Special Olympics DC uses Polar Plunges to bring together adults and children who are interested in raising money to support the nearly 1,600 athletes of Special Olympics DC while doing something wild and fun. Now in its third year, the DC Polar Plunge has generated $200,000 annually.

The February 19 Plunge is just one of several taking place around the District in the coming weeks. To learn more, and to sign up for a Plunge of your own, visit Plunge DC online.
