Trump to attend national prayer service on first full day in office

President Donald Trump will attend the national prayer service Tuesday morning at Washington National Cathedral.

The traditional prayer service is held the morning after the inauguration.

President Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony was held in the Capitol Rotunda due to frigid temperatures across the Washington, D.C. area. Hours later, Trump followed through on a campaign promise to pardon those involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack, including some 1,500 of his supporters who had assaulted police officers.

Trump also signed several executive orders aligned with his campaign promises. These orders include a temporary hiring freeze for federal agencies and a mandate for federal employees to return to their offices.

This all came Monday after an extraordinary pardon issued by outgoing President Joe Biden, announced by the White House as he greeted Trump at the inaugural ceremony. Biden’s pardons included several members of his extended family and were a response to Trump’s threats of retribution against his political opponents.
