Truck falls into sinkhole after water main break in Bethesda

Water officials say crews are working to repair a broken water main in Bethesda.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says a 10-inch water main broke at around 3:30 p.m. Friday near Sleaford Road and Chelton Road.

WSSC says ten customers are without water and they expect them to regain water service by Saturday morning.

A truck traveling on the road in the area fell into a sinkhole created by the broken pipe. The vehicle was partially engulfed before it was towed out of the sinkhole.

The driver of the truck was able to climb out of the vehicle and was not injured.
