Tips on how to stay safe at the pool

It's that time of year when pools are packed, but unfortunately, emergency rooms can be too.

In fact, a recent report from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission found that fatal child drownings are on the rise.

"Water and kids don't mix well if you're not prepared," said Dr. Joelle Simpson, a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Children's National. "One kid and one lifetime being altered because of those few seconds of a mistake is truly not worth it."

So what can parents do to keep their kids safe this summer?
