Tiny Trick or Treaters: NICU babies dressed up for Halloween

Babies at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri are getting ready for Halloween with some adorable, tiny costumes.

With the help of March of Dimes, some of the tiniest babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), were dressed up as butterflies, superheroes, and pumpkins for their first Halloween.

March of Dimes worked with the NICU Family Support Program at St. Luke's to provide the parents of critically ill newborns with a special Halloween memory.

Volunteers helped prepare costumes for the babies in the NICU, while professional photographers volunteered their services to capture photos of the tiny trick or treaters. Afterwards, the photos are given to parents as a keepsake.

Babies in the NICU may have been born too small, too soon, or with a medical condition that requires intensive care. The March of Dimes developed the NICU Family Support program to help support families during their baby's time in the NICU. The program also educates NICU staff about the best ways to support babies, families, and each other.

March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. For more than 75 years, moms and babies have benefited from March of Dimes research, education, vaccines, and breakthroughs.
