Teen in dance-off with cop visits Good Day DC
WASHINGTON - The D.C. teenager at the center of a viral dance video with a police officer ended her whirlwind week with a visit to Good Day DC.
Aaliyah Taylor met the police officer featured in the video Tuesday afternoon during a confrontation between two groups on K Street in Southwest D.C. The officer challenged Taylor to a dance-off as a way to calm the tense situation.
When Taylor uploaded the video to Facebook, it quickly went viral. Even President Obama saw it.
"I didn't know what to say. I was just so speechless," Taylor said about the moment she found out President Obama had tweeted about her video.
Taylor, who turned 18 on Friday, says she welcomes all of the attention.
"It feels good. I'm glad that everybody knows who I am now," Taylor said.
The Ballou High School senior has no formal dance training, but she has caught the attention of professional dancer Saudia Jenkins, her new mentor.
