Suspect stabs man in face in Fredericksburg, police say

Graphic video released by police shows a suspect violently stabbing a man in the face during an altercation in Fredericksburg on Saturday.

Authorities said a man approached a group of people walking on Caroline Street in Fredericksburg, Virginia at about 2:10 a.m. on Saturday in a confrontational manner.

Detectives said a man in the group asked the suspect to leave, but the suspect became aggressive toward the group and an altercation ensued.

Surveillance video in the area captured the suspect stabbing the man in the face with a knife before running away from the scene, according to police.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect was described by officials as a white man, standing about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. Officials said the suspect had either dark blonde or light brown hair with a possible bald spot and facial stubble.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt with a music band logo on it, black or dark gray shorts, and tennis shoes. Investigators said the suspect may also wear glasses.
