'Star Trek' fans needed to help restore original USS Enterprise model for show's anniversary

Calling all Trekkies - the Smithsonian needs your help to restore the USS Enterprise! The National Air and Space Museum is looking for photos or videos taken by 'Star Trek' fans, showing the original model of the USS Enterprise that was used during filming of the iconic series.

The plan is to restore the model to its original state in time for the 49th anniversary of the show's debut.

According to Smithsonian.com, the 11-foot prop has been modified eight times since it was built in 1964.

Fans are asked to help by submitting any original images or film of the model that they have from before 1976.
