Santa Fe High School shooting victims remembered at prayer vigil

A prayer vigil took place at Texas First Bank in Sante Fe on Friday evening for the victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting.

Bay Harbour United Methodist Church (3459 Fm 518 Rd E League City, Texas 77573) also announced their doors would be open to the community on until 9 p.m. Friday for anyone seeking a place of quiet prayer and reflection.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed that at least 10 people were dead and 10 others were injured after a shooting at Santa Fe High School on Friday morning. Gov. Abbott says most of the people injured are students.

A Santa Fe ISD police officer, who just retired from the Houston Police Department, was also critically injured in the shooting and has been moved to an intensive care unit.

The scene remains active at the school located about 30 miles south of Houston. The FBI, ATF, Texas Department of Public Safety, and local law enforcement including Santa Fe PD, Galveston County Sheriff's department and Harris County Sheriff's Office are all on the scene, after reports of shots fired came in just before 8 a.m. Friday.

Officials say possible explosive devices have been located at the school and off campus, and law enforcement is working to render them safe.
