Burtonsville is receiving a full replacement - a new 100,000‑square‑foot building designed to house 796 students. JoAnn Leleck is also getting a new school as the community continues to face overcrowding and capacity concerns.
Poolesville High School has undergone a major expansion and renovation. As a magnet school, it serves local students and offers specialized programming for students from other parts of the county.
MCPS will hold transition day on Monday for kindergartners, sixth graders and ninth graders to help them acclimate to their new buildings. The rest of the district returns to class on Tuesday.
