Report: DC's black residents have lower life expectancy than white residents
WASHINGTON - A troubling new report highlights the disparity in life expectancy in the District among white and African-American residents.
Researchers at Georgetown University say black men in D.C. have a life expectancy of 68-years compared to 83-years for white men.
The report also found African Americans in D.C. are twice as likely to die from heart disease and stroke and six times more likely to die from diabetes.
Experts say the report should trigger conversations on adequate healthcare for all residents.
