Remembering Rosa Parks
WASHINGTON - February 4, 2016 would have been Rosa Park's 103rd birthday.
The iconic Civil Rights activist was born in 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. She made headlines on December 1, 1955 for refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white passenger after a long day of work.
Parks received many accolades during her lifetime, including the NAACP Spingarn Medal, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal.
She passed away at the age of 92 in her apartment in Detroit, Michigan.
