Prince George's Co. 16-year-old dies on school field trip

A 16-year-old tragically died early Saturday after becoming ill on his way home from a school sponsored field trip to Washington, D.C.

Bowie High School student, Okon Ntikem, was on a junior ROTC trip when he started not feeling well. The bus pulled into a gas station in Oxon Hill and called 9-1-1. When medics arrived, CPR was already being administered to Ntikem. Firefighters/Medics took over, provided advanced life support, and transported his to a local hospital.

Ntikem was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The cause of his death is still unknown.

Prince George's County Public Schools has released a statement regarding his passing: "Prince George's County Public Schools is saddened by this loss of Okon Ntikem. We send our deepest sympathy to the Ntikem family. PGCPS will do everything it can to support the entire Bowie High School community during this difficult time."
