Popular 'invisible' bodysuit Halloween costume raises safety concerns
WASHINGTON - Halloween is coming up soon and before you buy your child a costume, there is one out there that is really popular, but could be dangerous for your kids.
The "invisible" costume is a head-to-toe bodysuit available for sale at costume stores. You can see right away as it absolutely makes a child invisible in the dark of night.
We tested it out and people not only thought it was dangerous, but a little too scary as well.
This costume comes in all kinds of colors for your children to wear this Halloween, including black.
We tested a black-colored costume out with 9-year-old Zachary and it does what safety experts are concerned about -- it makes him almost impossible to spot in the dark.
He even happened to scare a group who happened to be walking by during Zachary's test run.
"We thought he was a statue when we came out," said one woman.
"We did," said her friend. "We thought it was a sculpture until it moved."
When a bright light is on and Zachary is moving, you can see him just fine. But when you turn out the light, you would never know he is standing right in front of you.
Even though the costume's packaging claims the bodysuit is see-through and breathable, Zachary said he did have a difficult time seeing and breathing a bit as well.
