Police searching for suspect involved in Alexandria bank robbery

Two elementary schools in Alexandria were on a 'lock-in' status for a bank robbery nearby on Friday.

Police say that Mount Vernon Community School, GW and Charles Barrett and Cora Kelly Magnet Elementary School are the elementary schools that were on lock-in. The lock-in was lifted at 1:30PM.

The robbery occurred in the 2800 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Suspect is described as an Hispanic or Middle Eastern male, 5' 11', 185 pounds, with dark hair and receding hair line. He was wearing a dark green t-shirt, long jean shorts and mirrored sunglasses.
