Police search for woman who threw hot soup at bus driver

(AP) -- Authorities are searching for a woman who threw hot soup on a bus driver in Washington.

Metropolitan Area Transit Authority spokesman Dan Stessel says the incident began Sunday morning after the woman boarded the bus at the Benning Road station and refused to pay her fare. Stessel says the woman cursed at the driver, saying she wouldn't pay.

About 20 minutes later, the bus arrived at Union State, where the woman exited the bus and threw hot soup at the driver. She then fled on Massachusetts Avenue.

Metro says the driver was treated and released from the hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
