Police: Naked man attacks Fairfax County officers; 8 injured
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - A naked man attacked police officers who responded to a domestic violence call on Monday morning, according to Fairfax County police.
Police went to the 11800 block of Federalist Way for a report of screaming and glass breaking in an apartment. They said an unclothed Hussani White, 26, struck two officers in a stairwell and dragged one of them down a flight of stairs. Officers used pepper spray while struggling with the suspect.
According to police, the suspect had apparently put electronics and other items into his oven and set fire to the kitchen before police showed up. Two additional officers entered the apartment, extinguished the fire and helped evacuate the surrounding units.
Five officers were transported for medical treatment from pepper spray exposure, smoke inhalation and injuries sustained from the assault. Three other officers were checked out for smoke inhalation.
The suspect was also treated for exposure to pepper spray and minor injuries. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center after being released from the hospital.
A woman on the scene was treated for an injury sustained before officers arrived.
White is charged with two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer and attempted arson of an occupied dwelling.
