Police: Montgomery County double shooting revealed as father-son murder/suicide attempt

A double shooting in Montgomery County is now reported to be a domestic-related murder and attempted suicide involving a father and son, police say.

Officials say a 67-year-old son shot and killed his 89-year-old father, before turning the gun on himself.

Montgomery County police say detectives are investigating the shooting that occurred in a park and ride on Norbeck Road, near the intersection of Georgia Avenue on Saturday.

Police and fire crews responded to the Park and Ride commuter lot for a report of two people found shot inside a car.

First responders found two men with gunshot wounds in the front seats of a gold Toyota Prius. Police say 89-year-old Thomas Willey, was found deceased in the front passenger seat. His son, 67-year-old Thomas "Greg" Willey was found in critical condition and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say their preliminary investigation revealed that the two men lived in the nearby Leisure World apartment complex. Investigators say they believe Greg Willey, who was in the front seat, shot his father, Thomas Willey, before shooting himself.

Detectives say a note was recovered from inside the vehicle, believed to have been left by Greg Willey. Investigators say they recovered a handgun, found near him in the car.

The condition of Greg Willey is unknown at this time, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) will conduct an autopsy on Thomas Willey in Baltimore.
