Police investigating fatal crash in Clarksburg

CLARKSBURG, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Montgomery County Police detectives are investigating a fatal crash that happened Thursday morning in Clarksburg.

According to police, at around 9:58 a.m., officers and fire and rescue crews responded to a serious collision in the 11700 block of Hawkes Road.

Police say an investigation revealed that a 2013 Honda Accord was driving eastbound on Hawkes Road when it collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Express 2500 van that was traveling westbound.

The driver of the car, 45-year-old Nancy Soraya Moreno, of Damascus, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash. She later was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of the van, David Joseph Dowling, 57, of Germantown, suffered minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing to determine why the two vehicles collided.
