Police investigate woman's assault claim at Holiday Inn in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. - Police are investigating a woman's claim that she was assaulted at a Montgomery County hotel. Officers say the incident was reported around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday by a female guest at the Holiday Inn Express on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

Investigators say that the woman claimed to have met a man Tuesday evening at a restaurant. She says the assault happened after the man drove her to the hotel and walked her to her room - forcing himself inside.

Police tell FOX 5's Bob Barnard that they do not believe there was a sexual assault or an attempted sexual assault. They are investigating to see if, however, if the man did fight with the woman before fleeing the scene.

At this time police have not released any information regarding the suspect in this case.
