Police arrest woman suspected in Columbia Mall carousel robbery, assault (Video)
COLUMBIA, Md. - Police have arrested a woman they say assaulted a Howard County mall worker over the weekend after she allegedly tried to steal money from the cash register at a popular mall children's attraction.
22-year-old Ahleyah Marie Rockwell was arrested Friday morning, police say. According to officers, she assaulted an employee of the Island Carousel at the Columbia Mall around 4 p.m. on Saturday after the employee tried to stop her from allegedly stealing money from the ride's cash register.
Video of the incident appears to show Rockwell grabbing the employee by the hair, pulling her to the ground, and biting her hand. She then fled the area into the mall's food court. The victim was later taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries suffered during the attack.
Investigators say they received numerous leads and tips after posting the video to social media.
Rockwell faces charges of robbery, theft and multiple counts of assault.
