Pedestrian struck, trapped under Greyhound bus in DC

WASHINGTON - D.C. Fire and EMS have freed a pedestrian who was hit by a Greyhound bus in Northwest D.C. The incident happened at around 1:10 p.m. Wednesday at 7th and K Streets nearby the convention center.

Witnesses tell FOX 5 that the male victim was attempting to cross 7th Street as the bus was making a left turn from K Street to 7th Street. They say the side of the vehicle struck the man and he was pulled and dragged until he was finally stuck at the rear wheels of the bus.

The pedestrian was stuck underneath for about 20 minutes as D.C. Fire and EMS used large wooden planks, blocks and a hydraulic lift to extricate the trapped man.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The bus was a shuttle for the American Dental Association convention that is currently being held in town.

There were street closures in the immediate area as authorities investigate the accident.
