Only Blue Line Metro trains to stop at Stadium-Armory Station during peak times
WASHINGTON - It's going to be a long fall and winter for Metro riders commuting to and from the Stadium-Armory station.
Metro says it will take six months to restore full power to the station after a fire last week destroyed a power substation, disrupting electricity that fires up the third rail. In the meantime, Metro is implementing service changes because the alternative power is not enough to maintain full train operations.
Starting Tuesday, Orange and Silver Line trains will bypass Stadium-Armory from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays. Only Blue Line trains will be servicing the station during the morning and evening commutes. There will be normal Blue, Orange and Silver Line service at all other times.
Metro says it will provide free shuttle bus service between Stadium-Armory and Minnesota Avenue during the hours the station is bypassed.
