No injuries at Union Station in slow-speed derailment, officials say

WASHINGTON - An Amtrak train derailed with nearly 200 people aboard while it was entering Union Station, according to officials.

Fire officials said the train derailed at low speeds and there were no injuries reported to the estimated 190 passengers or crew.

According to the fire department, one set of wheels on the train came off the tracks about 150 yards from the station and the train remained upright.

Crews were able to safely evacuate all the passengers and train employees.
