No charges for officer involved in friendly fire death of Md. officer

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. - No charges will be filed against the officer who fatally shot Prince George's County officer Jacai Colson during an attack on the Prince George's County police headquarters station in March, officials announced on Friday.

Colson was fatally struck by a bullet Officer Taylor Krauss shot. Krauss mistook Colson for an armed threat. The undercover narcotics officer, an African-American, was wearing plainclothes when he responded to the March attack.

Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said Colson's family is "disappointed" and wants people held accountable.

Authorities said that Michael Ford, 22, planned and carried out an attack on officers outside the police station while his brothers, Malik, 21, and Elijah, 18, recorded the shooting on their cellphones. Ford faces 55 counts, including second-degree murder in Colson's death.

The case will be continued for the Ford brothers, prosecutors said. Their trial is expected to happen in October.
