WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) -- District officials say there was no active shooter and there was no threat in the wake of a panic that surged through the crowd gathered at Dupont Circle following the Capital Pride Parade on Saturday.

According to police, a gun was found in a backpack, but no shots were fired.

They say the person - who has not been identified - was arrested for possession of a handgun.

A second person was arrested in what police described as an unrelated incident.

According to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and D.C. Deputy Mayor Kevin Donahue, some people suffered injuries when people in the crowd started running from what they thought were gunshots.

Police say seven people were transported from the scene with what they described as minor injuries.

Shortly after the incident, D.C. Pride tweeted that the "threat" had been contained. They said that although the parade was over, the festival would continue as planned.
