New Castle County woman contracts measles while abroad

State health officials say a New Castle County woman has the first confirmed case of measles in Delaware since 2012.

The Delaware Division of Public Health says the woman is in her 20s and was never vaccinated against the disease. The woman contracted measles while she was traveling abroad.

The woman was in the hospital briefly but is now recovering at home. Health officials say none of the woman's known contacts have shown symptoms of the disease. They say each person had been previously vaccinated.

Health officials say the Delaware case is not linked to the recent measles outbreak in California.

This is the third time in five years that someone in Delaware has contracted measles.
